Corning Chengdu Plant Celebrates Safety Milestone

Corning’s Optical Fiber and Cable plant in Chengdu, China, recently celebrated a significant safety milestone – 1,000 work days free of recordable incidents. To mark this achievement, a celebration was held for all Chengdu plant employees.

Richard Cao, Environmental, Health, and Safety manager, praised employees for their diligent focus and commitment to safety.

“This is a historical milestone for the Chengdu plant,” Richard said. “Reaching 1,000 safe work days, or 1.8 million safe work hours, is a significant accomplishment that would not have been achieved without the tremendous efforts made by every employee.”

Plant leadership also formally recognized employees who made significant contributions to workplace safety through establishing safety kaizens and serving as safety coordinators and machine guards.

“We focus our efforts to ensure safe behaviors and safe conditions exist in the workplace,” Richard added. “We know that strong investment in the input processes will yield great output metrics. Our team is committed to this model, and the results prove it.”
