PGS Team Renews Service Commitment in Taipei

October 2018

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Members of Corning's Precision Glass Solutions (PGS) team are making a habit of visiting residents of at Taipei Happy Mount, a non-profit organization that supports those with physical and mental disabilities.

PGS employees recently followed up on last year’s visit to rekindle friendships and make a donation to the facility. “It's great to be back and see these kids smile again," said Dave Velasquez, division vice president of Corning Precision Glass Solutions. "PGS is made up in part by a great team in Taipei and we want to share our good fortune with more of the local people that support us…Spending time at Happy Mount is one small way that we can live Corning's Values.”

Taipei Happy Mount is a more than 80-year-old non-profit facility dedicated to providing care and improving the quality of life for people with disabilities. Rehabilitation services include art and music therapy, as well as outdoor activities. The goal is to provide a safe place to live and enrich residents' lives with engagement and education they otherwise could not access.

"Our pledge to Happy Mount is just the start," Velasquez said. "This year, we plan to identify similar non-profits near our business locations in Shanghai and Seoul where we can donate hands-on help."
